Donations have been made to Friends Promoting Port Austin on behalf of others.
FPPA would like to post these donations in the spirit of Port Austin's Lighthouse.
LIGHTHOUSE HISTORY:
Located on Lake Huron, 2.5 miles north of the Village of Port Austin, the Port Austin Reef Light was completed in 1878, then reconfigured in 1899. Lightkeepers operated the light until it was automated in 1953.
The U.S. Coast Guard decomissioned the light in 1984, and the building was scheduled for demolition. A small group of volunteers formed the Port Austin Reef Light Association and obtained a license from the federal government to renovate the light.
IN MEMORY OF........
PETERSON,Eudora Margaret (Schwalm)
Born: January 28, 1918 Died: October 2, 2010
Mom was born in Bad Axe and graduated from high school in 1935. She married fellow classmate, Clayton Peterson, on March 16, 1945 almost immediately after Dad was discarged from the Navy following World War II. They made their home in Bad Axe until 1956 when they moved their family to Harbor Beach. Mom loved reading, playing Bridge and visiting with friends and family. Mom was a great cook and taught me well. So I was never fooled when she would say to me why don't you make this or that dish, you're a much better cook than I am. Mom and Dad had many friends who they socialized with for many years. They were also active in the community when I was growing up. The fact that Mom and Dad were not fond of their somewhat unique names (Eudora and Clayton) was made apparent when they named their children William and Susan. Both parents are missed deeply.

PERRAULT, Alan
In memory of our brother, ALAN PERRAULT: Born Oct 5, 1956 "If you must bury something, let it be my faults, my weaknesses, and all prejudice against my fellow man. Give my sins to the devil. Give my soul to God. If, by chance, you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you. If you do all I have asked, I will live forever."
