Former Board Members

Amanda Nienaltowski: Past Trustee 2011
Amanda has just finished her term as trustee. After much arm twisting, she agreed to not re-up for another two years so that she can take care of our growing need for clerical assistance as an independent contractor. While she may not hold a trustee position, you'll still see Amanda active in all our activities, and to the relief of the board, she'll be guiding us in the paperwork department!

Amanda was born in Bad Axe, MI, where she grew up and graduated from Bad Axe High School in 2002. She went on to Central Michigan University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a concentration in Marketing Communications.

She currently resides in Port Austin with her husband, Paul their puppy Dash. Amanda works as the Village of Port Austin Treasurer and also does online work for a company in Connecticut. She and Paul are active outdoorsmen. They enjoy hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling, along with many other outdoor activities.

Amanda brings her wonderful marketing background to FPPA and her mark is found on every event.

Stacey Viers: Past Secretary/Treasurer 2010
Stacey Viers served 2 crazy years as the Friends Promoting Port Austin Secretary/Treasurer. She was born and raised in Port Austin and is a 1994 graduate of North Huron High School. She lives in Port Austin with her husband, Issac, and three children Jimmy (age 12), Ashley (age 11), and Benjamin (age 2). They are active in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and their church.

Stacey graduated from Central Michigan University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a concentration in Accounting. She has worked in public accounting since graduation and, in 2007, opened Acct. Ability, Inc. (an accounting and tax preparation firm) in Port Austin. She is currently attending Baker College On-line to obtain her MBA.

Stacey also served as Secretary of the Greater Port Austin Area Chamber of Commerce during her busy two years as FPPA's secretary/treasurer. Stacey's busy life has got to be one of the craziest out of all our board members, yet she never hesitated to say yes when asked to be a part of getting FPPA off the ground. You could say that her only "fault" is that she loves the Port Austin area so much she can't say no. This writer feels that this "fault" is her greatest gift to FPPA.

Catherine Feil: Former Trustee Oct 2008-July 2010
Catherine has been a Port Austin resident for the last nine years and is a widow. She is a mother, grandmother and even a great-grandmother! She lived in St. Clair Shores for 43 years before moving with her husband to Port Austin. She was actively involved with her husband's band organizing cruises, bus trips and dances and did the bookings for the band. Catherine's passion is dancing of all kinds, with the polka and the waltz being her favorites. She also enjoys line dancing since you do not need a partner! When wintering in Florida, Catherine teaches two classes of line dancing.

Sandy Drettmann: Former Vice-President and Former Trustee Oct 2008 - Sept 2009
Sandy has spent her summers in P.A. since the 1950's at her parent's small cottage motel. She raised her five boys at their summer home in Huron Dunes near Oak Beach. Many fond memories that Sandy has are of the beach parties at the Port Crescent Chimney, roller skating every night on the old corner hotel screened in dance floor, and all the wonderful July 4th celebrations and parades.

Sandy co-chaired the first Bocce-on-the-Bay Festival of Lights. She is on the board of the Thumb Arts Guild, along with the Friends Promoting Port Austin. Sandy has also been a member of the Bad Axe Business and Professional Women's Club since 1997.

Steve Frank: Former Trustee April 2008 - Sept 2008
While Steve was a board member for just a short time, his vision of "Working towards a bigger bang" brought Friends Promoting Port Austin's first major Big Bang Event in 2008!

Tom Schmidt: Former Vice-President April 2008 - Sept 2008
Tom grew up in Port Austin and still resides here as well as having his business, Finan & Schmidt in the village. Tom doesn't like being in the spot light, but his love for the area is found everywhere in his writings and actions. His office and staff was the Port Austin Area Chamber of Commerce for quite some time. He is the go-to man for any fund raising, he's a member of the Fireworks Fundraising Committee, was a member of the Downtown Development Authority, and much more. Tom worked diligently with Steve Frank in creating Port Austin's first Big Bang Event.
